HANSEN, Kate Illum (Flojborg)
Peacefully at North Lambton Lodge, Forest, Ontario on September 1st, 2016 in her 97th year. Born to Marie and Edvard in Copenhagen, Denmark, on June 5th 1920. Predeceased by her husband Niels Jorgen (1987) and siblings Johnna, Svend, and Rita. Survived by sons Paul (Mary Jean) and Jim of Forest, and grandchildren Robert (Lindsay), Nathan, and Jonathan (Kerry) of Calgary. Great grandmother of Clara, Hailey, Elizabeth and Lennon and Kenadie. Kate is also survived by sister-in-law Inger Floe-Jensen and many nephews and nieces all of Denmark. Kate immigrated to Canada in July 1951 and resided in Sarnia with her husband and sons. She was employed as a bookkeeper for the Bank of Nova Scotia for many years. She loved singing and playing the piano and was a member of the Sarnia Melodyaires and the Strangway Singers. She was a very astute Bridge player which earned her the nickname “Miss Three No Trump”. Kate was a proficient swimmer and enjoyed being at the beaches of Errol and Bright’s Grove. Many thanks to the staff at North Lambton Lodge for the caring and respectful manner in which our mother was always treated. Cremation has taken place and a Graveside Service will occur at a later date.
