Raymond Wight
Raymond loved the land, worked hard, and reaped a harvest of love, family and friends. Peacefully at Bluewater Health in Sarnia, surrounded by his family, on Monday, July 17th. Beloved husband and best friend of Anne (Eastman) for over 60 years. Together Raymond and Anne raised their family just outside of Thedford. Cherished father of Charles (2007) & Carol, Diane & Scott, and Wayne & Kim. Loving Grandfather to Martina, Matthew, Adam, Ryan, Kyle, Mark, Kelsey, Kristen, and Devin. Great Grandfather to Scott, Wyatt, Hannah, Jaxon, Dexton and Austin. Brother of Keith & Carole Wight and brother-in-law of Carmen Leggate. Predeceased by parents and sister Margueriete.
Raymond was a jack of all trades, ranging from working at the Cold Storage in Thedford, to driving a milk truck, working on the boats at Imperial Oil Marine Division, to Lambton Cattle Breeders, and working at The Feedmills in Forest, Thedford and Arkona. In all of this, trucking was his passion. Through it all, Raymond worked side by side with his wife Anne and kids on their family farm. In his spare time Raymond dabbled in politics for 17 years, finishing as the Deputy Mayor. Raymond also loved to laugh and enjoyed outings on his snowmobile and playing cards.
A visitation will take place on Monday, July 24th from 12pm-2pm and 6pm-8pm at Gilpin Funeral Chapel in Forest. A service will be conducted Tuesday, July 25th at 2pm with interment to follow at the Pinehill Cemetery.
