Obituary for
Regina Lukaszewski (Koprowski)
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother Regina Lukaszewski in her 96th year. Born in Morgi, Suwalki , Poland February 7, 1922 . She emigrated from Germany with her husband Stanley and son William and settled in Chatham, Ontario in 1948. Regina raised her three children William, Halina and Teresa on Park Ave. West, while working at Domtar in Chatham; a position she held for 25 years. Shortly after retirement Regina moved to Grand Bend where she eventually moved into the Beach Place Condos.
Regina was a spirited hard working lady who loved to talk politics to one and all. All who visited remember Babcia sitting in her favourite chair along the windowed wall facing Lake Huron while watching CNN and challenging her guests to comment on the most recent political news. Regina knew what was fake and what was real, because she lived reality and that is why everyday since the most recent American Presidential election she could be heard several times a day muttering, “Stupid Ass.” While in the hospital the doctor offered Regina two options, one somewhat fantasy and the other reality. Regina chose reality and passed peacefully. Reality epitomized Regina’s life.
Regina leaves behind her daughters Halina (Keith) Crawford and Teresa (John) Panjer. Predeceased by three brothers and three sisters, Anthony Koprowski (Marisia), Felek Koprowski (Czeslawa) of Poland, Frank Koprowski (Anna) from Merlin, Ontario, and sisters Bronislawa Lenczewska (Wladek) of Poland, Ola (aged 9), Maria (at birth).
Regina also leaves behind nephews Edward and Dan Koprowski from Merlin, Ontario, as well as numerous nieces and nephews in Poland. Regina always enjoyed the company of her grandchildren Kimberley and Keith Crawford, Troy and Tobi Lyn Lukas and Erin Panjer. Six great grandchildren also had the privilege of interacting with this spirited soul. Meghan McGill, Taylor McGill, Bailey McGill, Ella Crawford, Mia Crawford and Drake Panjer-Dwyer.
Regina’s wishes were to be cremated and a family celebration of life will be held at a later date. Interment will take place at Immaculate Conception Church in Formosa with son William (2012).
